WATERCOLOUR WONDER AT STANTONBURY GALLERY WITH LAURA SLADE

A new exhibition is hanging and waiting to meet your acquaintance at Stantonbury Gallery from today (May 16), courtesy of Newport Pagnell based artist Laura Slade, whose preferred medium is watercolour.

I take great pleasure in touching brush to crisp white paper and watching the paint take on a life of its own,” Laura says.

I try to push boundaries with colour, using vibrant and clashing colours that shouldn't work together but somehow do.

I hope that through my work the viewer will gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty found in nature, and maybe even feel inspired to pick up a brush themselves and discover the joys of paint!”

MPMG Foxes

I have always loved animals and nature, and growing up in a farming family surrounded by wildlife and rugged landscape has provided me with lots of inspiration,” said Laura, and these beautiful pieces, of lambs and delightful fox cubs, prove the point perfectly.

The natural world is full of colour and texture, which I enjoy trying to create in my own work.”

See more examples as the exhibition which carries through to June 5th.

Admission is free.
