Review by Jason Day
This comic book based super hero fantasy is a brilliant, fantastic, terrifically entertaining piece of cinema, probably the finest of its (sub) genre.

Did I just write that?! I, Reelreviewer? I actually thought this?!

A self-avowed hater of this kind of cinematic 'pap'? (I'm pretty sure I've used that phrase in the past. If I haven't written it down in a review, I have meant it. On more than one occasion).

Well yes, I did and this is why.

Not only does this Marvel comic based film, led by a largely black cast (and what a cast!) largely avoid brain-pummellingly obvious racial politics, it is thrillingly entertaining, superbly played and features exactly the same type of explosive special effects laden sequences you would expect of a Thor or Avengers film.

Chadwick Boseman's pure hero and Michael B. Jordan's psychologically well-shaded villain spark off each other superbly but the female character shine brightest especially Danai Gurira as the starring female lead of the all-female Royal bodyguard.

Witty and engaging throughout, see it on the big screen and enjoy this refreshing twist on the hackneyed comic book yarn as umpteen millions around the globe are.
