Catch rising blues and folker Rik van den Bosch on The Stables stage this week

Dutch Folk and Blues musician and globetrotting singer song writer Rik van den Bosch has moved to England and is currently touring the UK - he'll be live at The Stables Stage 2 on Friday (May 26).

Originally from Amsterdam, Rik recently traded in Barcelona for Shoreham by Sea.

Rik has been writing and playing his own folk, rock, and blues songs for the last 20 years and for the last decade has been gigging and touring throughout Europe, across Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Rik writes, sings, and plays his own songs on acoustic guitar, drawing from a wide influence of styles: original folk and blues sounds from way back, sixties’ rock ’n’ roll grooves and up-to-the-minute pure rock rhythms - with a bit of gypsy and Spanish influence thrown in for good measure.

Rik is a solo artist, armed with a variety of tools to create a full and interesting sound, from his slide and mouth harp, to his incredible vocal range.

He shies away from textbook techniques, settling outside the margins of academic art and making up his own rules. And he’s been doing this for a long time - when he seven years old he built his own guitar using a tin can, a chunk of wood and a nylon string!
