GIANT LOSS TO SUMMER ARTS PROGRAMME IN MILTON KEYNES

Festive Road has cancelled this year's planned Walking With Giants Parade.

In a statement, the arts group said: 'For the last four years we have received grant funding to enable us to run this amazing free parade but, unfortunately, this year we have been unsuccessful with some of our grant applications.'

'Despite very generous awards of funding from MK Council and MK Community Foundation, there is still insufficient money in the pot to do justice to ourselves and, more importantly, the public; so we have made the tough decision to cancel this year’s Walking With Giants Parade.

'We will be back with next year holding a spectacular Parade to celebrate Milton Keynes’ 50th Birthday; the planning for which has already started and we have some initial funding in place.'

Meantime, Festive Road will be exhibiting a collection of their extraordinary mechanical creations, including some new creatures, at the Barn Gallery, Westbury Arts Centre, as part of the 4th biennial MK Festival Fringe, beginning on July 13.
