Lisbee Stainton to headline Forest, Folk & Roots session

On Friday (Jan 20), Forest Folk and Roots brings a slice of cultured folk-pop to the College Arms Bar in Cranfield courtesy of Hampshire born Lisbee Stainton.

She is the English Rose with the 8-string guitar, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been writing her own music since the tender age of nine years old!

Lisbee recorded her first album, Firefly, in 2006 before going on to study Popular Music at Goldsmiths College.

Since graduating she has recorded three more critically acclaimed albums - Girl on an Unmade Bed, Go and Word Games.

Lisbee launched her career when she was the first unsigned artist to play London's O2 Arena in 2007.

Soon after, 6Music’s Tom Robinson discovered Lisbee's song 'Red' and invited her to play on his radio shows.

His support subsequently led to Lisbee's music being play-listed by BBC Radio 2 and her single “Just Like Me” was Mark Radcliffe’s single of the week.

She has toured extensively in the UK and Europe with artists including Joan Armatrading, Gretchen Peters, Paul Carrack and Seth Lakeman, who was so impressed that he invited her to join his band in 2012.

She’s better than a bit good, is Miss Stainton, as you will see directly if you take a ticket for the Cranfield date.

Support is coming from Milton Keynes player Narius, a seasoned guitarist and singer with one of the most varied musical repertoires around, encompassing original compositions, as well as a special selection of personally curated covers, arranged in his own unique rhythmic style.

Doors at 7.30pm, music goes live at 8pm and tickets are £10 (half of that for students).
