ON TRACK: AHEAD OF THIS WEEK'S INTO THE WILD FESTIVAL, JACK ROWBERRY SHARES HIS MUSICAL LIKES AND DISLIKES WITH TOTAL MK

Ask Jack Rowberry for his musical inspirations and he'll make mention of John Frusciante and John Mayer, but their 'rootsy guitar influence' is only part of the story. For the full Rowberry sound, you need to take a ticket for this weekend's Into the Wild Festival happening in Milton Keynes. It's just a passion I've never had for anything else Your best on stage memory I recently played at an outdoor event which was celebrating the Battle of Bannockburn, there were guys and girls turning up in medieval outfits, people on horses, people with full armour on. It was like I was playing a gig to the Braveheart cast.  That was weird, I don't think I will forget that And the worst gig you've ever done I played in the shop window of a Jack Wills shop in Edinburgh.  It all sounded like a good idea, however the sound was terrible. People only stopped to watch until the pavement got bottlenecked and then moved, so I was never able to inform people who I was and I very much felt like I was for sale.  Not the best... Which one song by another artist do you wish you had written 'Slow Dancing In Burning Room', by John Mayer.  I think it's the perfect slow song, it's not soppy, but still very beautiful. It's genius songwriting and playing MPMG ITWbanner. July 11png And one - by yourself - which holds special significance That would be 'Hide Away'.  It's the first song I played live at a show and to this day is my most requested.  It's a very simple song but it signifies a shift in my life from a few years ago and it means a lot to me  If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do Probably John Lennon, I would just sit back and be impressed with myself and I would only do one thing differently - I would not have left the house 'that day' Are there any current musical influences that you might look to Yes, very many, however the main ones are probably new age blues guitar players such as John Mayer, John Frusciante.  These guys learned in an old school way but play new school.  Love that approach!  And any genre of music that you simply can't stand Probably Ska music, I can't get into that at all.  Also anything including bagpipes Still on a musical tip, tell us what you are going to bring to the Into the Wild line-up My band and I are going to bring  acoustic roots versions of our current set.  We are not traveling down with our drummer so things are going to be new for us as well as the crowd.  We have 12 stringers and extra percussion etc...it's going to be good ...and to be prepared for any festival eventuality, what are the three essential items you pack? Tent, wellington boots and a BBQ.  Stay dry and eat well...the rest will fall into place
