ON TRACK: BLAKE MAN HUMPHREY ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS...

Brit-award winners Blake will appear at The Stables at the end of the month. The vocal sensations return to the venue, with support from Camilla Kerslake and MKs own Diamond School Choir on August 28 and 29. We challenged Humphrey to answer our On Track questions...   The song that first awakened your musical senses No particular song but growing up singing in a choir and experiencing singing in harmony.  When it clicks it is such a great feeling and very inspiring.  Physical or digital - how do you take your music? Physical. Love a bit of vinyl  The first time you thought 'Music - this is the job for me' When I was fifteen I sang to someone in the business who said I should think about this as a profession.  That was it and I never looked back.  Your best on stage memory... First performance at the Albert Hall.  To stand on that stage and look up at a full house was very special and all my family were there.  It was a great moment.  And the worst gig you've ever played... Luckily they are few and far between but we were booked for a corporate show which consisted of 300 very drunk men.  They did not want to listen/watch a group of guys singing - they wanted women, booze and rock music.  We told our booker not to take one of those again!  What made you take up singing I loved it, I seemed to be quite good at it and I was very lucky to have good teachers and very supportive parents.  Which one song by another artist do you wish you'd have written First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Sung by Roberta Flack.  Amazing song but her voice makes it so special. MPMG Blake_trio  And one - by yourself - which holds special significance Our new song for Walking With the Wounded called To the Sun.  We worked with Alistair Griffin and we wrote all the harmonies.  It is a great charity and our song was the official song for the South Pole Challenge and every penny of the sales goes to charity.  It's a great song for a great charity.  If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do?  I used to play drums at school and love Queen so  I would be Roger Taylor ( I would love to be able to play like that) and would go on the Queen world tour.  Some of the biggest shows ever and the after parties were even bigger! Rock and roll!!  Are there any current musical influences that you might look to? We always have our ears open for influences and with our new album presently in creation we will see what happens.  Watch this space!  And any genre of music that you simply can't stand? Death metal. Not my kind of thing.  Sounds like someone having an angry fit down a mic. To book for The Stables show visit www.stables.org
