Vinyl fans will be getting into the groove, literally, when the annual Record Store Day arrives again this weekend. Hundreds of artists will issue special, strictly limited edition discs on the day. In 2014, the seventh event of its type in the UK, artists participating include Jethro Tull, Jay Z, Bowie, Oasis, Kylie and The Blockheads...and even One Direction! More than 200 stores are getting involved  in the 'celebration of the UKs unique independent sector,' with fans expected en masse to try and bag releases by their most favoured artists. There are no stores participating here in the new city, and fans of the black stuff will have to make tracks to Northampton store Spun0ut to get their fill.   Record Store Day 2014     "Record Store Day has been instigated to draw people's attention to their local independent record shop..." says Spunout manager Chris Kent. "...places that have been struggling with the present economic climate but still maintain a constant wealth of knowledge and musical inspiration, somewhere to lose yourself in your listening passion and get pointers towards happening new sounds. "In spite of high street giants like HMV struggling to keep customers, Spunout has up to a hundred new musical releases per week and customer service second to none..." Spunout will open at 9am, and will celebrate the day by inviting live bands and DJs to colour up the event. "It's an annual reminder of the importance of keeping our high streets interesting," Chris added.
