RONNIE SCOTT'S MUSIC HUB WELCOMES BLACK MARTIS

Milton Keynes trio Black Martis are reaching out with their music this week – supporting renowned jazz ace Robert Glasper at that perfect little venue Ronnie Scott's on Thursday (Aug 13) evening.

But before you think about taking a trip to the capital to indulge your senses, forget it – tickets are a long time sold out.

Marc, Phil and Nick have previous form on the MK scene, but channeling their metal and ska sides in No Cigar and The Extractors.

Things have jumped on a bit since then, and Black Martis have been favoured by the jazz fraternity.

Just don't go expecting a quite traditional jazz delivery, or you'll be disappointed.

Mixing pounding rock and samba-fuelled rhythms, aggressive bass lines and flowing piano riffs (along with the occasional 4/4 time signature), they say they create a sound big enough to surprise the unsuspecting onlooker in more ways than one.

You'll get an opportunity to sample that when they return to The Stables in October.

Last time around they supported Northern acoustic ace Jon Gomm. This time they'll be playing out in their own right.

Stick October 31 in the diary now, and we'll prompt you again closer to the time.
