SONG LOFT PRESENTS HOT DOUBLE BILL WITH LUCY WARD AND FABIAN HOLLAND

He grew up listening to music by blues aces including Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters, and now Fabian Holland (above) delivers his own blues-imbued arrangements.

Later this month he will release his second album, A Day Like Tomorrow, and it's his tour by the same name that sees Fabian play for you in Stony Stratford this week.

On Thursday night (April 16) he will be live at The Song Loft at The Cock Hotel, as support to Lucy Ward.

Lyrically evocative, sometimes moody and melancholic, his music has a flip side of songs of upbeat, wry humour but always cutely observed – songs of people and places and human frailties and foibles.

Having studied at Guildford's Academy of Contemporary Music, where he was tutored by the late, great Eric Roche, Fabian then took on a red VW bus and headed to Italy's Abruzzo mountains where he spent four years busking, composing and honing his craft. Sounds blissful.

MPMG Lucy Ward

Lucy (above) is an award-winning acoustic artist, and a bit of a dab hand at the guitar, ukulele and concertina, though she says it is her voice that is her first instrument.

Mojo music rag labeled her 'Britfolk's most vibrant and forthright new young talent.'

The great double billing will be held in The Marquee Bar.

Tickets are £10 in advance, £12.50 on the doors.
