Stuart McCallum to play at Milton Keynes Gallery next week

Conscia Jazz, the Bedford based jazz promotion and education company bring Stuart McCallum to MK Gallery on Thursday (April 6) to perform solo. This is the fourth time he has been involved with a Conscia Jazz event and has always wowed local audiences.

Stuart McCallum is a Manchester based guitarist, best known for his work with The Cinematic Orchestra.

He has also worked with some top jazz names, including Ari Hoenig, Ira Coleman, Tim Garland, John Surman and Kenny Wheeler.

In this solo acoustic setting, Stuart uses three different acoustic guitars to play some of his own original compositions as well as re-imagining and re-sculpting some well-known jazz standards into fresh shapes. Stuart admits to influences from Pat Metheny to Bill Frisell, Bon Iver to Jerry Douglas and Gerald Finzi to Kelly Joe Phelps.

His use of loops, soundscapes and open tunings evokes a combination of chilled-out bliss and sublimated yearning, creating music that is a balm for the soul.

Tickets for this event are available at conscia.org for the price of £7.50, with tickets also available on the door for the price of £8.50.

Doors open for this event at 8pm, and the music goes live at 8.30pm.
