THE BLETCHLEY CIRCLE DIRECTOR WITH THE BLETCHLEY PARK CONNECTION

Bletchley Park welcomes Sarah Harding this Saturday (21 September). Sarah directed part of series two of ITV1 series The Bletchley Circle, and will discuss her personal connection to the Home of the Codebreakers. Her mother Dorothy Thompson was a wireless operator and morse slip reader at the Park from 1943 until the end of the war. "I always thought everyone at Bletchley Park was Oxbridge educated, and mathematicians," Sarah said. "Although there were a lot of very bight women, absolute accuracy, tenaciousness and focus were important skills too.  My mother recognised certain operators - she said she could recognise his thumb." With her mother having played such an important role at the park, Sarah relished the opportunity to direct the work when the script landed on her desk. "You can see women characters thinking," she says of The Bletchley Circle, "They're not trying to please each other, they're on a mission." Sarah will discuss her personal connection to the park, visitors will also be invited to partake in a Q&A session and enjoy the exhibitions and tea and cake at Saturday's event. Call for returns only on 01908 272684.
