THIS WEEK AT THE STABLES: SEAN HUGHES, KATIE BUCKHAVEN BAND, WORBEY AND FARRELL, JULIET KELLY & MARTIN TAYLOR LINE-UP

There is a second opportunity to take in a performance of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells for Two, which is live at The Stables on Thursday (Sept 10).

With 'One album, two men, too many instruments,' to deal with, it's a show that pushes the Aussie duo staging it to the max, and leaves the audience mesmerised.

Comedian Sean Hughes (below) is up on Friday night (Sept 11) with the show, Mumbo Jumbo.

MPMG SeanHughes

Throughout his life Sean has been battling to stay on the right side of sanity, and now realises the two sides of his brain are in constant conflict – and mumbo jumbo has the upper hand over common sense.

Take a seat and let Sean tell about the time he was serenaded at the break of dawn by Robert Smith, or when he trekked to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

You'll also get a three-minute musical about ageing too.

Of a nervous disposition? Do you blush too easily? Under the age of 16?

This won't be the show for you then. Everyone else, roll-up for the roar.

John Dexter Jones and JUMP, and The Katie Buckhaven Band combine talents for some Saturday (Sept 12) night fun, with both bands delivering a full set of material, and then on Sunday (Sept 13), John Lees' Barclay James Harvest steps up.

Expect new songs and old hits (Mocking Bird, Hymn, Child of the Universe and Galadriel) from 8pm.

Forget Noel Edmunds – Worbey and Farrell's House Party (top pic) is every bit as entertaining.

They've enjoyed sell-out runs at Edinburgh 2013 and 2014, and will raise the roof with just four hands and one piano on Tuesday evening (Sept 15).

The show comes with a promise that you'll 'be moved, delighted and utterly gobsmacked,' as the ingenius duo take you on a music journey from Bach to Lily Allen, and from Reggae to Rachmaninov.

On Stage 2, Spellbound Stories will fall, courtesy of acclaimed singer-songwriter Juliet Kelly (below), who will explore themes including the plight of a scorned mistress, accidental time travel and cross-cultural love.

Lifting melodies, quirky harmonies and intoxicating rhythms are yours to revel in, from 8.45pm.

Last up this week is Wednesday's (Sept 16) return by Martin Taylor.

His career spans five decades and his deft work and inimitable style is a wonderful maelstrom of virtuosity, emotion and humor.
