THIS WEEK AT THE STABLES: WITH ALEC DANKWORTH, THE STAWBS & PAUL CARRACK

Flamenco rhythms, traditional Spanish and Cuban folk songs form a musical tapestry at the hands of award-winning bass player Alec Dankworth (above), who performs at his parents' place this evening (July 16).

This show - which also feature's Alec's daughter, singer Emily, will truly evoke the soul of the Iberian peninsula.

Adding movement to the event, which rolls from 8pm, will be flamenco dancer Jesus Olmedo.

The rescheduled Jackson Live date is happening tomorrow night (July 17), but if you think, 'I fancy that,' you are not alone (to mention one of his finest numbers) - tickets are scant, and it's standing only left.

In Stage 2, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra will take attentions with their own brand of Western swing, blues, gypsy jazz and country.

They keep it simple, and call it North Eastern Swin' and it'll make a nice connection with your ears from 8.45pm.

Folk rock collective The Strawbs pull in on Saturday night.

The band behind glorious chart moments including Lay Down and Part of the Union, have been making noises since the late 60's and this date is a rare opportunity to hear material spanning their entire career.

You'll be treated to two sets from the guys too - the first acoustic, the latter, electric.

On Saturday, Aunty Donna will deliver their Edinburgh Festival Preview.

In description, the show has been declared 'Unique, tight, fresh, filthy but best of all just flat out, laugh 'til your face hurts funny.'

If you like The Mighty Boosh and Flight of the Concords, this show - declared as a fusion of both - will be a winning one.

PaulCarrack

Last up this week, Paul Carrack (above) who brings his unique, instantly recognisable voice to the microphone.

Carrack's is the voice on some beautiful chart moments including The Living Years, Tempted and Over My Shoulder.

He has made music with Squeeze, Ace and Mike & the Mechanics, but as a solo artist he has racked up a vast armoury of material too.

And after many years in the industry, his star is only getting brighter - in 2014 he enjoyed his most successful tour and album ever.

He makes music look easy, and sound heavenly.

Earlier in the year, he packed MK Theatre tightly, and this more intimate date is in big demand.
