Green-fingered folks bring home the 'gold' to Milton Keynes

City participants in the regional Britain in Bloom competition took gold in all categories last week - during Milton Keynes' fiftieth anniversary year.

Stony Stratford has been entering as a small town since since 2008, and since 2010 they have bagged the Thames and Chilterns Region Small Town Category for the Thames and Chilterns Region seven times - six times with a gold gong!

"There's a tremendous community spirit in Stony Stratford and it's the fact that the whole community is rooting for us that makes us so proud to do so well," said Judy Deveson, chair of Stony Stratford in Bloom.

Wolverton has been entering as an Urban Community for even longer.

"This year is the first time they've won gold and all the MK entrants are over-the-moon that all the In Bloom entrants got gold," she added.
Last year was the inaugural BIB Parks category competition in Thames and Chilterns, and the Open University took gold on both occasions, and gained the RHS Park of Distinction award to boot!
