Milton Keynes Marathon donates £10k to MK Dons SET

Milton Keynes Dons Sport and Education Trust (MK Dons SET) have been presented with a cheque for £10,000 from Milton Keynes Marathon.

Race Director Andy Hully handed the cheque to MK Dons SET Chair of Trustees Simon Ingram and Chief Executive John Cove on the pitch at Stadium MK during a recent MK Dons match.

John Cove said the donation was great news for MK Dons SET: “We are delighted and humbled by the ongoing support of MK Marathon. Their support enables us to deliver work to some of the most hard-to-reach in our community and it is fitting that the Milton Keynes community comes out in its thousands to support the effort of the runners.

"We'd encourage everyone to support participants at this year's event and if you need a charity to run for this year please look no further than MK Dons Sport and Education Trust”

MK Dons SET has been the featured charity of the MK Marathon since it started in 2012 and aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle in MK and beyond which is a natural fit with the goals of the marathon.

Each year more than 50,000 adults and children benefit from activities organised by MK Dons SET including holiday courses, match day clubs, study support, tackling obesity programmes, team coaching, mini soccer and multi sports programmes. These are delivered in partnership with a range of organisations including Milton Keynes Council, NHS: MK, schools and Junior Football Clubs.

The MK Marathon, despite only running for five years, has already managed to help partner charities raise over £1.5m for a range of great causes.

The Milton Keynes Marathon returns for its sixth year on Monday, May 1 as one of the flagship events of the MK50 celebrations.

As well as an incredible experience for the 10,000 runners expected to take part, the event also offers a great opportunity for local businesses to sponsor the event.
