Support the Milton Keynes Night Shelter or 'pay it forward' with Whitespace Yoga

Throughout December, Whitespace Yoga & Wellbeing Studio is encouraging others to carry out a random act of kindness and help those in need by either donating necessities for the MK Winter Night Shelter or to pay-it-forward by purchasing an additional class for someone who might need yoga, pilates or meditation in the New Year but will be unable to afford it.

The yoga studio based in Stony Stratford kick-started the gift of giving at its’ Yogi Christmas Market last weekend; raising £170 for the homeless which will provide three days of food for the Shelter.

Donations for the MK Winter Night Shelter will provide local vulnerable people who would otherwise be sleeping rough with essentials during the extreme winter months.

The yoga studio is asking the public to donate essentials including:

· T-Shirts

· Socks

· New underwear

· Toiletries (toothpaste, shower gel, soaps, toothpaste etc)

Customers can also choose to ‘pay-it-forward’ in the run up to Christmas and purchase a class to help someone in a bad situation. For every act of kindness where a class purchased, Whitespace Studio will match this with another class.

Deborah Berryman, Yoga Teacher and Founder of Whitespace Studio said: “Helping local people that are in need is really important to us to give something back to the community. Making a gesture of goodwill is incredibly rewarding to both the person donating and also the person receiving the gift. It is more about the spirit behind the acts and the joy it brings to those who are without things we take for granted.”

“We wanted to match each and every pay it forward donation and provide a yoga, pilates or meditation class to someone who really needs to relax and restore in the New Year which is known as a depressing time of year,” she added.

The studio can be found at 5 St Pauls Court in Stony Stratford and is open from 9.15am until 9pm Monday – Thursday, until 7pm on Friday and from 8.15am until 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
