The countdown is on for the Urban Roots Festival in Milton Keynes

Willen Lake's summer of events didn't end when IF: Fest packed up its colourful assortment of entertainment.

At the end of this month, the Urban Roots Festival will take place at Willen Lake.

With an nice mixture of chart topping performers, captivating live entertainment and mouth-watering dishes from around the world, the event which is celebrating the diversity of the town, is a must for the whole family.

The event - on Saturday, August 27 - is aimed at bringing traditional African styles and western form together in an enjoyable day.

Dancers, DJs and live entertainment will bring the  day to life in the first Urban Roots Festival. Artists so far confirmed include Radio 1xtra DJ Abrante, Abracadabra and Stylo G.

The festival will also feature an open mic tent for those wanting to perform and a kid’s creative corner where the little ones can get crafty. For adults, there will be a host of pop up street ventures and bars as well as a shisha tent.

“Milton Keynes is an extremely culturally diverse town and we wanted to put on a spectacular festival to celebrate and bring different cultures together," said Bella Ubhi, founder of Bohemian Dreams.

"The Urban Roots Festival provides families with the opportunity to learn abut different food and entertainment, plus a day of fun over the bank holiday weekend. We have an exciting line up of entertainment planned for all ages and look forward to welcoming guests for an enjoyable day.”

Urban Roots Festival costs £15 for adults, £5 for under 16’s and is free for kids under 10. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to the Sickle Cell Society. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.urbanrootsfestival.co.uk or by calling 07413006287 or on the gate for £25.
