AUDITIONS: MKAOS SEEK ACTORS FOR THE WEDDING SINGER PRODUCTION

Think your lungs can handle a bottle of hairspray?

Milton Keynes Amateur Operatic Society have announced their 2016 summer show will be musical comedy The Wedding Singer, and they are looking for actors to star, writes Sarah Davies.

Set back in 1985, the show follows rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart, who still lives in his grandmother’s basement and is New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer.

Robbie is the life and soul of the party but is left torn when his fiancé, Linda, abandons him at the altar. So distraught is he, Robbie decides to make every wedding as disastrous at his own... until he meets Julia, an admiring young waitress who he madly falls in love with. Just when you think that there is a glimmer of hope for the lad, he finds out Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark.

Can Robbie win her over with the performance of a decade?

You can time warp back to the 80’s with the MKAOS in the stage delivery when they take audiences back to the era when big hair was the craze and greed was considered good.

The show is being staged at Stantonbury Theatre next June. Fancy auditioning for a role?

An introductory evening is being held from 7:30pm this Sunday (Oct 25) at Old Stratford Memorial Hall. Attendees will be able to find out about the group’s West End workshop and learn more about the audition process.
