CANAL SIDE THEATRE WITH MIKRON IN GREAT LINFORD

Mikron Theatre Company have spent more than 40 years touring England by narrowboat, delivering quality theatre in picturesque locations, and this week they are back in Milton Keynes for another serving. On Thursday evening (June 26) the cast of four will be appearing at The Black Horse in Great Linford, with the show Till The Cows Come Home. 'Harvey Granelli is fed up of working for Thistledale Council.  He followed his miserable mother into local government, but he has more in common with his Italian father - part time playboy and one-time ice-cream maker, Romeo. Inspired by a dream of his long dead dad, Harvey finally finds the courage to follow his heart.  But when he whips up a gelato from Papa Granelli's recipe book it just doesn't taste the same. Times have changed; the way our food is produced has changed. Harvey now has a choice.  He can make an inferior product, or he can source the very best ingredients and make the finest ice-cream in the world.  His quest will take him to the corners of the earth - from Thistledale to Tuscany, and from Bridlington to Brazil. But will he be able to recreate that yummy taste?  Will he be back home in time to prevent his girlfriend from surrendering to the charms of another man?  And who is following him? Mikron say the delivery is 'a farm-fresh, full-fat, fair-trade fable about the nation's favourite food.' If you want to enjoy it, you need to be at the traditional pub in time for the 7.30pm start. A collection will be taken post-show, so advance tickets aren't required, but so long as the weather stays fine the performance will be in the great outdoors - remember your chairs and blankets!
