Gareth Gates returns to Milton Keynes in the 80's smash Footloose this week

Milton Keynes Theatre welcomes an old pal back to its stage from Monday (Oct 17) when Gareth Gates takes the lead in the eighties smash Footloose.

Since finding fame on the first season of Pop Idol 15 years ago (seriously…where did that time go to?) Gareth has sold more than five millions records.

He is the youngest ever male artist to debut at the top of the charts, and bagged the third biggest selling single of the noughts for Unchained Melody.

More recently though, the theatre stage has been his calling, and his credits include Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Fellow stage and singing familiar Maureen Nolan is also signed up for this major new UK tour.

Based on the 1984 screen sensation which starred Kevin Bacon Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren, who has to move to a rural backwater in America, where dancing is banned.
All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet.

Youthful spirit, dazzling dance and electrifying music runs throughout in this feel-good opportunity.

Incredibly when the soundtrack was released, it knocked Michael Jackson’s Thriller from the top spot, ending his year-long run at No.1. and worldwide the soundtrack shifted more than 17 million copies. But enough already with the facts, and on with this week’s show booking!

Performances run through to Saturday October 22.
