OUR PICK: TOTAL MK LOOKS BACK AT A YEAR OF PERFORMANCE AT MK THEATRE: NO.5

After plenty of head-scratching and deliberation,  Total MK scribe Georgina Butler has compiled her Top 5 shows which landed at Milton Keynes Theatre in 2014...

At No.5 it's Three Little Pigs

A trio of plucky piglets blew youngsters away in Northern Ballet’s enchanting production of Three Little Pigs back in May.

Following the success of 2013’s Ugly Duckling, this year’s Three Little Pigs was Northern Ballet’s second specially created short ballet designed to introduce little ones to the magic of live dance, theatre and music.

Milton Keynes Theatre responded to huge demand from baby ballet fans by opening the upper circle for the two performances of Three Little Pigs and families and school groups eagerly trotted along to enjoy the familiar tale.

The piggy siblings’ exploits were told through a delightful combination of ballet and dance steps, natural movement, slapstick and mime – all set to entertaining music.

As ever, Northern Ballet demonstrated their commitment to telling the story as clearly as possible, along with astute attention to detail and plenty of comedic moments.

These ballets for children are entertaining for little ones and adults alike – and perfect as a way of passing on the joys of theatre and dance to the next generation.
