PEPPER'S GHOST THEATRE COMPANY CELEBRATE TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY - LAST CHANCE TO SEE

Pepper's Ghost Theatre Company hit double figures this year, and marked its 10 year anniversary by joining forces with professional company The Plays The Thing. The two companies have been delivering performances of Our Country's Good, by Timberlake Wertenbaker, at Stantonbury Theatre this week. Our Country's Good tells the true story of the first penal colony in Australia and a young, ambitious lieutenant, Ralph Clark.  He agrees to direct a play with the convicts in the main roles, as a means of getting notice and possibly a promotion. With only two copies of the script, a cast of prisoners, a leading lady under sentence of hanging and fierce opposition from most of his fellow officers, he has more than his fair share of director's woes. OCG3 But the play does happen, and it changes lives forever, celebrating the redemptive power of the theatre and the arts. Therefore, the emotive work was a no-brainer for those overseeing the anniversary slant of Pepper's Ghost Theatre. "It is a fitting play for inclusive company Pepper's Ghost to produce," they said, "...a company which has also changed and enriched many lives by helping people engage in the arts." Tickets for today's  (Sat, May 17) final performances - at 2pm and 7.30pm - are on sale at £12 and £10. To book, call MK 324466 or visit www.stantonburytheatre.co.uk    OCG2
