Thoroughly Modern Millie dances into Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday

With pantomime all cleared out and the last boos falling silent in the distance, Milton Keynes Theatre has whipped down the last of the Christmas decorations and done away with the mince pies.

But don't be fooled into thinking that the production on the stage tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan 24) will be any less sparkly - Thoroughly Modern Millie has plenty of sparkle, which is in no small part down to its stars.

Michelle Collins is a stage star last seen in these parts adding va-va-vroom to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Don't mess with her, mind, in an earlier guise Michelle famously shot her fella...

But when Albert Square is your home, and Ian Beale your husband, you'd be forgiven that, surely?

This time around Michelle is playing the delightfully evil Mrs Meers...

Michelle returns fresh from panto in Aylesbury, and will be joined on stage by the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2016, Joanne Clifton.
The Ballroom Showdance Champion and Professional Dancer (pic) will take the lead role as Millie Dillmount, a Kansas Girl determined to make it big in New York City!

Joanne's other credits include Face the Music, Burn the Floor and playing Marilyn Monroe (what a role!) in Norma Jeane the Musical.
Thoroughly Modern Millier has bagged half a dozen Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

It will take you back to the height of the jazz age in 1920s New York City, when 'moderns' including flapper Millie were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.

From explosive tap numbers to a wonderful 'Fred and Ginger' dance routine on a window ledge, TMM is a brilliantly funny and entertaining show for all the family.

Thoroughly Modern Millie at MK Theatre remains at MK Theatre until January 28.

Over to Michelle for the plug: "If you like Strictly, or even if you don’t, you’ll love it because the dancing is amazing.

"It’s one of those musicals where you recognise the songs, without realising. I think it’s quirky, and great fun. Mrs Mears is a very un pc and hilarious character. It’s very funny. It’s not like your average musical, it’s different, slightly camp and as a musical, very original. The costumes and sets are also fantastic."

Jazz up your week, folks!
