TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, PERFORMANCES IN MK FROM TUESDAY

Regent's Park Theatre arrive at MK Theatre on Tuesday (March 10), with their acclaimed stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird.

The work comes direct to us from a sell-out London run.

Racial injustice envelops the small town community occupied by Scout Finch, who lives with her brother Jem and their widowed father Atticus, in the sleepy Alabama town of Mayfield.

Much to the consternation of the local racist, white community, Atticus, a prominent lawyer, agrees to defend a black man accused of raping a white woman.

Through courage and compassion, Atticus Finch seeks to uncover the truth, while Scout - a girl on the threshold of adulthood - brings new hope to a town in turmoil.

To Kill a Mockingbird's arrival here follows the news that a second book by author Harper Lee, will now be issued - 55 years after 'Mockingbird won the Pulitzer prize.

Go Set A Watchman was penned before To Kill a Mockingbird, but continues the story - and is set 20 years after the matters in Mayfield, when a grown up Scout visits her father.  The book will be released in July.

But before that, let's concern ourselves with this pressing production.

Daniel Betts stars as Atticus Finch, with Zachary Momo in the role of defendant Tom Robinson.
