CELEBRATE THE QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY HERE IN MILTON KEYNES

The Queen celebrates her 90th birthday on Thursday (April 21), and while most of us will make do with a candle on a cake, something much more illuminating is planned for Her Majesty – the lighting of more than 1000 beacons in towns and villages across the UK and Commonwealth.

The Queen will actually start the chain when she lights the principal beacon at Windsor Castle.

Here in the new city, Milton Keynes Museum has teamed up with Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council to be part of that festivities.

Celebrations will take place at the museum with food, barrels of beer and live music to engage with before the Campbell Park beacon is lit on the other side of town.

Entry on the night is free, and you'll have the opportunity to have a look around the museum free of charge.

Gates open at 6.30pm.

> If you head to the beacon to celebrate, you'll join The Mayor, Cllr McLean when he launches the MK celebrations with entertainment from children's choirs and Festive Road, between 7pm and 8pm.
