Dance students prepare for VaVaVoom in Milton Keynes

A Milton Keynes dance school is counting down to its bi-annual showcase and tickets are selling fast.

Final rehearsals are under way at Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works, ahead of its VaVaVoom spectacular at The Venue MK.

More than 350 dancers are looking forward to taking to the stage to dazzle audiences during an exciting run of six performances between Tuesday March 27 and Saturday March 31.

VaVaVoom will star performers of all ages and abilities, from toddlers twirling in their very first costumes to aspiring - and retired - professional dancers. It builds on the success of 2016’s extravaganza, Decadance, and promises to be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Dance styles on display will include ballet, tap, jazz, commercial and contemporary.

The energetic show numbers are set to music from treasured films, classic musicals, traditional ballets and popular singers. Dancers will dive beneath the waves for an under the sea adventure, boogie through Candyland, prowl around the Serengeti, waltz in a winter wonderland…

Managing director Tom Linecar-Boulton said: "We can't wait to be back onstage at The Venue Theatre with another dazzling dance spectacular! Every dancer in the show, from pre-schooler to ex-professional, has worked so hard to create a truly magical show that will dazzle and delight all ages."

Everyone who would like to dance is welcomed by the teaching faculty at Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works, which provides classes for total beginners, coaching for professionals and everything in between.

The junior school caters for children aged 2 years and up, delivering enjoyable and educational classes and preparing pupils for examinations. The adult programme offers friendly open classes for individuals of all levels. The three-year professional dancers’ course prepares carefully selected vocational students for a career in dance.

Since presenting its last show in 2016, Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works has relocated to a new multi-studio complex on Upper Fifth Street in central Milton Keynes to accommodate the growing Dancebox family.

The building boasts six dance studios, changing rooms and social spaces. Other facilities include a classroom, music room, student common room, student kitchen and wardrobe department.

Principal and artistic director Matthew Linecar-Boulton said: "It's such an exciting and energetic time here at Dancebox. The new building is phenomenal, the full-time professional training course is gaining momentum and our junior school is going from strength to strength.

"We love that Milton Keynes is choosing Dancebox, both as a welcoming oasis and as a centre for excellence in the arts."
