FROM BEALE STREET TO BEDFORD FOR CHARLIE WOOD

Charlie Wood plays live at The Ent Shed in Bedford tomorrow night (Oct 24). Memphis-born, Charlie became a regular feature on the legendary Beale Street where his Hammond organ trio enjoyed a long-standing residency. So well regarded was the gig that touring musicians would often stop by and sit in – B.B King, Georgie Fame and Joey DeFrancesco among them. The singer-songwriter now resides in Bedford with his wife, singer Jacqui Dankworth, and the two have just co-produced Charlie's new release, New Souvenirs. Tomorrow's date will be an early opportunity to hear some of the new compositions in the live, and to be wowed by his incredible voice. Charlie is fresh back to his adopted home from his original base – having just been honoured in Memphis with a Brass Note on Beale Street, joining artists including Elvis, Charlie Musselwhite, Johnny Cash and Otis Redding who have previously been commemorated. Tickets for the Bedford show – at the Gordon Arms – are on sale at £10. For more on Charlie visit www.charliewood.us MPMG CW promo 2015 colour.1 copy
