Everyone is invited to ‘Make Some Noise' for Milton Keynes' 50th birthday with Wolverton Lantern Festival on Saturday, November 25.
In addition to the parade's usual promise of giant school lanterns, hundreds of homemade lanterns, circus performances and samba beats, for this year only there will be special junk percussion workshops to make instruments, learn the rhythms and join the parade band.
Percussion and lantern-making workshops are every Sunday at The Old Bath House Community Centre between 2-5pm.
Thanks to funding, the team has commissioned nationally renowned artist 'The Junk Orchestra' to deliver a day of DIY junk music fun at Slated Row School, and everyone is invited to join The Junk Orchestra and make and play your own instruments on the big day.
The fun starts from 2pm with free circus skills and musical mayhem for the kids, followed by performances including Rock Choir, Wolverton Town Band and Concrete Circus. The parade leaves The Square at 4.30pm, and features FIVE samba bands!
As if that's not enough, there'll be a fine selection of delicious street food, mulled wine and wonderful winter spirit.
