MUSIC IN THE GARDEN RETURNS TO WAVENDON: WEEK ONE DELIGHTS REVEALED

The fifteenth annual Music in the Garden season begins this weekend, with a typically eclectic, engaging programme for you to dip into.

Over the coming five weekend's the tranquility of Dame Cleo Laine's Wavendon green space will be given over to a fine selection of artists.  Here's this week's treats...

On Saturday (June 13), Pure Brubeck (below) will draw repertoire from the period between 1951 and 1968.

Simon Bates (alto sax), Paul 'Harry' Harris (piano), Dominic Howles (bass) and Pete Cater (drums) will be delivering material lifted from releases including Time Out, Time Further Out and Time In.

Expect a healthy amount of banter and anecdotes to complement the music on offer.

The programme begins at midday, and tickets are available at £15.

Return on Sunday for something quite different, though equally as enthralling.

Last year, Shrimpton & Routledge thrilled with their comic delivery Cafe Ruse.

This time Second Soprano (above) are taking their audience back to 1914, for the poignant tale of two sisters torn apart by historic events

This is the untold story of the nurses and entertainers who served in WWI.

It is, say those bringing the delivery, 'a stirring personal account and a tragi/comic tribute performed in a merge of physical comedy, post-modern tragedy, music hall tradition and rock 'n' roll.'

Show time is 2.30pm and tickets are on sale at £12.
