RUGBY WORLD CUP: STAND UP AND BE COUNTED WITH ROOTS

Milton Keynes based dancers and musicians who want to be part of something special this October are being asked to stand up and be counted.

ROOTS is a show that 'aims to encourage artists to explore their cultural roots through music and dance.'

It will take place on Sunday October 11, 2015, at Campbell Park as part of Milton Keynes’ Rugby World Cup 2015 official Fanzone.

Artistic Director Helen Parlor is programming the show, which will be broken down into two 40-minute segments.

I am keen to attract groups who have different styles and energies so we can demonstrate a range of international styles and influences and really showcase what Milton Keynes has to offer,” she said.

Whether you are part of a Breakdancing Crew or a Kathak dance group – all styles are welcome to apply and help us to celebrate Rugby World Cup 2015 in Milton Keynes.

We will also be looking for musicians or music groups to perform alongside the dance, so whether you are a Bhangra group or play the saxophone, we would like to hear from you.”

Briony Fox, Head of Community Engagement at The Parks Trust added: “This is a fantastic chance for all musicians and dancers to be part of a real community event where you can all come together and put on a fabulous show.

With Rugby World Cup 2015 hosting three matches in Milton Keynes this October, and Campbell Park being a central part ... you can sign up today to be part of something special.”

How to Apply

Stage One: Send an expression of interest about your group or practice to helen@helenparlor.co.uk stating what it is you would like to present and in your style.

Stage Two: If successful through stage one, Helen Parlor will then arrange to visit your group or practice to observe the work and discuss the potential involvement and provide any additional artistic direction.
