The second Sci-Fi Con MK promises to be 'bigger and better' when it returns this weekend

Last year’s inaugural Sci-Fi Con MK proved a success in Milton Keynes, and the event returns for a second outing this week.

Organisers are promising this one will be bigger and more diverse.

Last year, the author talk on 10 simple steps to writing science fiction was a hit, and there are more talks this time around - four of them; Two author talks, the first exploring how to build a universe by the author of the Amazon five star rated novel Retaliation; Earth Reclamation Force and the trials and tribulations of being a self-published fantasy author by Crimson writer Laura Foster.

Local Cosplay genius Lala will be talking about the motivations behind Cosplay and the Documentary Film Makers behind Cleanin’ up the town; A Ghostbusters Documentary will be explaining a bit about the making of the film and showing some footage.

There will be two Q&A sessions this year, one for sci-fi and fantasy authors and one for sci-fi and fantasy actors and filmmakers, both will be hosted by the very popular Milton Keynes and London based Podcasters STACK.

The fantastically funny Hattie Hayridge, well known in the Sci-Fi world for her work as Holly from Red Dwarf, will also pop by.

Martin Ballantyne, who has worked on such movies as The Dark Knight along with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is also confirmed.

Organisers said: “We can’t hope to compete with the size and scale of the large national events but what we can offer is a truly fun, engaging, interactive and accessible experience for everyone who comes.”

The event will be held on Saturday (September 2) 10am -5pm at MKCC, Strudwick Drive, Oldbrook.
