WHAT'S ON: OPEN GARDEN EVENT IN WOBURN THIS WEEKEND

There's nothing like checking in with an Open Garden event to make you work on your own forlorn patch!

But more than that, it's a chance to admire the hard work of others, and to appreciate the beauty of the plant and flower world.

And you can do just that on Saturday (June 18) when Woburn hosts its Open Garden Day.

A dozen gardens are participating, opening their gates between 10.30am and 5.30pm.

Entry is by programme – costing £5 – which contain a map and all the details you need to guide yourselves around the village. All proceeds will be in aid of the Woburn Heritage Centre Trust and Woburn Lower School.

And if you are heading over, make sure you find time to visit The Green (opposite Woburn Hotel) where the participants in this year's Scarecrow Competition will be standing to attention.

Don't forget to cast your vote for your most favoured, using the slip in the programme.

There are sure to be some straw-some examples!

A tombola, plant and book stalls will also be present on The Green.
