ART: ON THE FRONTLINE OF GREAT WAR MK

A new exhibition launching at MK Gallery's Project Space this week forms part of the Great War MK project.

Four secondary schools in the area – MK Academy, The Hazeley Academy, Oakgrove and Lord Grey – have contributed pieces in the show, titled Frontline.

Late last year, artists Teresa Paiva and Alicja Rogalska began working with the pupils 'to explore how the visual arts have been used by artists to depict and interpret military conflict.'

Students used practical workshops and visited London's Imperial War Museum in London as their work progressed, and different media has been delivered – sculpture, painting and photography all feature in the show, which opens on Friday (June 5).

This project presented a fantastic opportunity for MK Gallery to develop strong relationships with the four participating secondary schools,” said Victoria Mayers, head of learning at the Gallery.

We've been impressed by the journey that the students have undertaken under the creative guidance of our appointed lead artists...”

Frontline will be available to view through to June 28. Admission is free.
