Milton Keynes College has been visiting Milton Keynes Central Library but not to borrow books!
Students from the college’s Design and Technology department have been giving a makeover to the Event Space as the latest MK College community project.
The students worked in partnership with MK Council and Brewers Decorator Centre to freshen-up this much-loved community space while developing their own professional skills as part of their studies.
Alfie Del Basso, the Painting and Decorating Course Team Leaver at MK College said “We’re delighted to be able to support Milton Keynes Central Library. Painting their Event Space provided a great real-life opportunity for our painting and decorating students, and I’m proud to say that they’ve done a really professional job that will be enjoyed by the Milton Keynes community.
At the College we strive to provide work experiences for our students that will support their career ambitions. Partnerships with MK Council and organisations such as Brewers, who kindly provided the paint, enable us to do this”.
Brewers Decorator Centres have been a great advocate for MK College students and Karen Larr, Regional Operations Manager, confirmed that “Brewers are so proud to be supporting the next generation of decorators at Milton Keynes College with paint, supplies and learning materials. The library redecoration is a fantastic example of job they may face within their career and a great opportunity to practise the skills they have been learning for the benefit of the local community.”
Libraries Services Manager at MK Council, Helen Bowlt said: “The students have done an excellent job and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to play a small part in developing their professional qualifications. We wish them luck with their future careers.”
