We mentioned it some time ago on Total MK, and the temporary artist audio installation No such thing as empty space will be visiting Milton Keynes Gallery this weekend (September 5 & 6).
The project has been created by sound artist Matt Lewis and the national deafblind charity Sense.
Speaking about the show, Matt said: “We wanted to ask the question – how can we perceive sound without using our hearing?”
“Our immersive sound project creatively explores the extremes, deficits and vagaries of auditory and haptic perception.
“The intention was not merely to recreate aspects of the deafblind experience, but also to shed light on the intricacies of human perception in general,” he added.
Visitors will be able to try out ambisonic (surround-sound) systems and sub bass vests, allowing the wearer to feel vibrations of low-end sound frequencies.
The gallery opening hours are 11am-8pm (Saturday) and Midday-5pm (Sunday).
Admission is free.
