Theatricality and passion propel every movement in Carmen.maquia. This fresh, fiery take on Bizet’s iconic opera about a passionate gypsy promises to be riveting from start to finish. The choreography is sensual, with elaborate partnering inspired by the Spanish paso doble and flamenco.
Club Havana, meanwhile, aspires to bring to life the intoxicating rhythms of the conga, rumba, mambo and cha. Cuban-born choreographer Pedro Ruiz’s vision re-imagines a nightclub populated by virtuoso dancers who astound with speedy solos and acrobatic partner work.
The performance that will be screened at Cineworld was filmed at the Mesa Arts Center, Arizona in September 2015.
