It might be hard to imagine as you endure the grind of the daily commute, or pass through by the Buszy with its rather ace skateboarders, but 30 years ago Milton Keynes Central Station doubled as the United Nations Building in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
Now, the brilliantly zany mind of Richard Dedomenici is reimagining the film and recording large sections - with Milton Keynes folks as extras - this Friday and Saturday.
It's the latest in The Redux Project, which has seen Richard revive film familiars including Jurassic Park, Dawn of the Dead and The Matrix.
He's travelled far and wide with his artistry too - from Berlin to Bangkok, and Seoul to Sydney.
But the Superman one? This is something special for its creator.
"Since long before The Redux Project started in 2013 I've been mildly obsessed by how Superman IV was shot in Milton Keynes," Richard explained, "Over the past three years I've applied to four different organisations to Redux the film, and was actually about to give up when IF unexpectedly called me up and agreed that it was a good idea.
"I'm not going to be playing Superman, as the Redux would take twice as long for me to film if I do.
"Instead I'll be cameoing as antihero Nuclear Man, and will be seen very briefly flying through some polystyrene ceiling tiles," he says.
"For the Superman flying scenes a generous local company is lending us a crane, which we'll erect in Milton Keynes Station Square on Saturday!"
And if you are reading this thinking 'I quite fancy being the next Christopher Reeve' then really, you are missing the point.
But if you feel like rocking up to Station Square this Friday or Saturday to star in the crowd scenes, you'll be made most welcome.
"Wear a gratuitous 80s American outfit to ensure prominent placement," Richard advises.
Never one to sit still for long, Richard's brilliant brain cogs are already turning with other fab events in the pipeline, including, later this month a short Redux of Quantum of Solace at The Barbican, and in August, a 'mass-participation' Redux of the opening chase scene from Trainspotting is set to colour up Edinburgh.
Tours of Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro are set to follow with other work, and there's a site-specific project in Iran in his thoughts...
Ideas, ideas everywhere then, but where do they come from?
"I wish I knew," he says, "They just pop into my head, often in my sleep...Sometimes in my dreams, another artist makes a great piece of work, and I get jealous I didn't think of it.
"The I wake up and realise that I did!"
But this week, the London-based ace has his sights firmly on the new city. He was was almost resident here once, you know.
"When I was three I almost moved to Milton Keynes, buit my mum had a nightmare about being shot in Milton Keynes by a policeman, so we moved down the line to Watford instead, which ironically has a much higher gun crime rate..."
Thankfully, the only shooting Richard will be doing this weekend will involve a video camera!
