Total MK is a big believer in plant-based goodness. Animals aren't food, and with so many companies now investing in animal-free alternatives, great grub is becoming easier to find.
And whether it is burgers, chocolate or cheese that you crave, these tasty treats will have you sorted...
BURGERS: Caribbean restaurant, Turtle Bay, launched a meat-free Motherclucker burger to coincide with last week's World Vegan Day.
Featuring a vegan chicken style patty, vegan burger bun, jerk vegan mayo, rocket, smashed avocado, pickled pink onion and jerk BBQ sauce, the Vegan Motherclucker is £7.50 and available at Turtle Bay in Milton Keynes (and countrywide). It is also available as part of the £10 lunch deal - any burger or roti plus one side and one homemade soft drink, Monday to Friday from 12pm-3pm.
You can settle back and indulge in a right tasty lunch, safe in the knowledge that no chicken has suffered for your food. That's the only sort of winner winner chicken dinner we want to hear about!
CHOCOLATE: Confectionary aces Enjoy! are dab hands at making dairy free delights including chocolate bars, caramels, fudge and buttons.
Earlier this year the firm was the first to launch the UK's first-ever caramel-filled button for vegans.
All their yummies are also 100% organic and free-from all 14 major allergens. We can vouch for those caramel buttons too. Once you open the packet, they'll disappear quick-smart!
SAY CHEESE: Somerset-based tasty cheese makers Applewood have come up trumps with a vegan-alternative to their smoked cheese, and it is flying out of stores (Eexlusively available at Asda branches just now).
Applewood has teamed up with vegan champion Heather Mills to create a plant-based version of their dairy classic.
"There’s no lactose, milk, eggs, soya, nuts or gluten in Applewood Vegan, it’s dairy free but it’s packed with the taste that vegans want in their sandwiches and lunch boxes,” said Heather.
“And because it melts wonderfully but still keeps its flavour, it’s perfect for all sorts of dishes from toasties, pizzas and pastas to baked potatoes and cheesy nachos and even fondue.
“At last, for those thinking of changing their diet because of environmental, health and ethical concerns, there’s no need to worry that you’ll miss the taste of cheese.”
And, in order to beat the lack of vitamins absent from some vegan diets, Applewood Vegan is fortified with B12 and calcium, so you won’t miss your nutrients either.
