Singer Natasha Seale fronts an all star band to celebrate the life and music of the iconic vocalist Rosemary Clooney whose distinctive honeyed voice captured the essence of a bygone era.
And she brings her show to The Stables in Wavendon on Sunday (May 19).
Former West end leading lady and songwriter Natasha Seale presents her heartfelt tribute to “The girl with a laugh in her voice” through a blend of narrative and a repertoire drawn from the delights of the 1950’s popular song book, Latin grooves and familiar favourites steeped in the jazz tradition for which Rosemary was revered.
Reknowned jazz journalist Ken Dryden claimed Clooney easily ranked as one of the greatest vocalists to appear on a record with the maestro Duke Ellington and his orchestra.
And was maybe best remembered for the 1954 classic White Christmas where she starred alongside, life long friend, Bing Crosby. During her illustrious career she rubbed shoulders with a whole host of musical royalty including the Gershwin brothers, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Billy Holiday, Perez Prado and Tony Bennett.
Natasha’s infectious energy and superb vocal performance effortlessly breathes new life into hits such as Come On-My House, This 'Ole House, Mambo Italiano, and Hey.
They are all performed with Rosemary’s trademark warmth, humour and honesty that helped establish Clooney as one of the greatest interpreters of the American songbook and solidified her place in Jazz history.
Natasha will be live at 11.30am as part of The Stables’ Mancini Forum.
