After a brilliant performance at the venue for Independent Venue Week back in January 2017, the hotly tipped Amber Arcades will be returning to Bedford Esquires on Friday (June 8).
Amber Arcades is the moniker of Dutch born musician Annelotte de Graaf.
With a Masters Degree in Law, Annelotte gave up a career as a legal aide at the International War Crimes Tribunal to become a full time musician and in 2016 she released her debut album ‘Fading Lines’ on the influential ‘Heavenly' record label.
Recorded in New York, it is a shimmering and winning mix of indie pop, shoegaze and electronica which saw Amber Arcades compared to bands like Beach House, Stereolab and The Cocteau Twins. Championed by BBC Radio DJ Lauren Laverne, the LP was subsequently named one of the best albums of the year by 6Music, Drowned in Sound and the Rough Trade Record Shop.
Amber Arcades are returning to the UK in 2018 to play a handful of high profile festivals dates including Green Man, Bluedot, Festival No.6 and Indietracks prior to the release of their Sophomore album ‘European Heartbreak’ in the Autumn.
Their gig at Bedford Esquires is one of only three club dates and will be a chance for fans to hear their new material, which by all accounts sees Annelotte and her band branching out into sixties influenced psychedelic pop.
"Fading Lines is one of my favourite LPs from the last few years and was a firm favourite here in the Esquires office," said promoter Richard Skilbeck.
"We were really pleased Amber Arcades agreed to play Bedford back in 2017 and we are now equally delighted to welcome them back. I'm really looking forward to hearing their new material as the tracks I have heard so far have been excellent."
Tickets for the gig are £8.50 in advance, available now here or directly from the venue.
