Daria Kulesh & Jonny Dyer take over Stage 2 at The Stables on Sunday (November 19).
With her striking voice and strong Russian and Ingush heritage, Daria Kulesh is a rising star and a unique character on the UK folk scene. Her intrepid quest to explore her family roots in the new solo album Long Lost Home has led her from the folk clubs of Hertfordshire to the mountains of Caucasus; from Cadogan Hall to Kremlin Palace.
The album has enjoyed rave reviews and has led to high profile live performances as well as TV and radio appearances.
Long Lost Home is mainly inspired by Ingushetia (Ghalghai Mokh) – the lost home of Daria's grandmother Fatima Akhrieva.
But above all, Long Lost Home is an album for our times, exploring themes of displacement and (in)tolerance, identity and integrity, humanity and strength in the face of adversity, hope against hate. Expect powerful, timeless human stories beautifully told in an eye-opening and profoundly uplifting musical experience.
Stay tuned for the new single by Daria - Vasilisa will be released later this month.
Daria will be joined at the Wavendon date by multi-instrumentalist Jonny Dyer (of Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer fame) who has left his unique mark on the album arrangements. When Jonny's wonderful instrumental skills are combined with Daria's stunning voice and dramatic stage presence, warm humour and chemistry abound, taking the audience on a very special journey.
