Devilskin play the Download Festival on Sunday (June 11).
The New Zealand based rock and metal exponents will be taking a break from the recording studio where they are working on a new album, to play the Dogtooth Stage.
Bassist Paul Martin talked festival shenanigans with Total MK…
Download Festival - what does it mean to you to be playing the spiritual home of heavy rock?
"This is the pinnacle of UK festivals, we all grew up reading about Donington Monsters Of Rock festival and all of our favourite bands on the bills. This is hallowed round and we are totally humbled to be a part of it. To play there is going to be so special, a very proud moment!"
Give us your best - and worst - festival memories, whether as a punter or performer…
"Best festival for me was being a punter at Soundwave festival in Aussie and getting front row for Testament. Bucket list stuff!
"Worst was a dance party festival we played. We were the only rock band surrounded by a sea of doof doof music, our set was great but there was no escaping the bass frequencies of the dance music..."
Who are the bands that you most want to catch at Download?
"Theres so many! Aerosmith, Slayer, Opeth, The Charm The Fury, Coheed & Cambria, Clutch, Fozzy, to name a few!"
What can people expect from your set on the day?
"Our greatest performance yet, power, passion and every ounce of our hearts!"
How to best survive the festival experience - what three items can't you go without? And why?
"Great people, great music, tequila. The ultimate recipe for a fantastic time!"
And post-festival season, what will Devilskin be up to?
"We will head home to continue working on our new album, making a new video and going out on a massive tour."
