Get your bubblegum rock fill: Bad Pop and SuperGlu take on Bedford Esquires this weekend

Bad Pop, the angular trio from Canada that sound like a sextet, are coming to Bedford Esquires this Saturday (September 9) - and they are decidedly road-hardened following a recent 25 show tour of North America.

SuperGlu are an abstract painter, a disco dancer, a boat dweller and a pesto addict. Together they’re the pop punk outsiders from Manningtree, Britain’s smallest town.

Despite being worlds apart the bands met and formed a lifelong bond when they performed on the Killing Moon Records showcase stage together at SXSW in Austin Texas earlier in 2017 – a performance cited as one of the best at the festival.

The two bands are a reminder that great music doesn’t have to take itself too seriously with their brand of “bubblegum rock” and infectious collective personalities winning over audiences.

Thanks to open admiration for each other’s energetic performances and a shared love of Welsh post-hardcore outfit Mclusky, the two bands have joined forces to co-headline a UK tour this September - hence this Bedford date.

Tickets are £7, doors at 8pm. Get yours here
