HACKTIVIST ON THEIR BLINDING READING FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE: "IT WAS A LOT TO TAKE IN..."
When Milton Keynes grime-metallers Hacktivist bagged the prestigious opening spot at last weekend's Reading Festival, no-one could have predicted how well they were going to be received.
But the pictures (scroll down) say it all - to coin a phrase, they smashed it!
"This weekend gave me the chance to realise a childhood dream of playing on the main stage of one of the world's most iconic and legendary music festivals, Reading and Leeds," said bassist Josh Gurner.
"The news didn't really even soak in until we were on-site and staring out over acres and acres of empty field, keeping every finger and toe crossed that music fans would eagerly flood in when we started our set.
"Being a band from Milton Keynes in our infancy, we were expecting we would draw a small crowd of bleary-eyed friends and family.
"Stepping out on to a stage in front of tens of thousands of people chanting our name was a lot to take in.
"I was saturated with pride, fear, and ecstatic joy; anyone that has seen us play before can tell twe have so much fun doing what we love to do, whether it's playing the main stage at Reading, or down The Craufurd Arms...but it's good to have experience of both for an accurate comparison!"
The band continues its festival stint with a date in Belgium this weekend, before heading back to the studio to wrap up work on their debut album.
