Milton Keynes musician Kev Hickman has been nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards 2026 - the only drummer ever to be selected in this category.
Known for his flamboyant stage presence and high-energy performances, Hickman has become a familiar and much-loved figure on the UK blues circuit. His nomination recognises not only his technical excellence behind the drum kit but also the passion and personality he brings to every performance.
Currently playing with award-winning blues vocalist Alice Armstrong, Hickman contributes to a powerful live show earning the band victories at the UK and European Blues Challenges in 2025.
Beyond touring and recording, Kev remains deeply committed to supporting grassroots music in his hometown of Milton Keynes. With business partner Chris Mansbridge, he co-owns Rhythm Room Music School, inspiring students of all ages, and Old School Rehearsal Rooms, providing vital rehearsal space for local bands and artists.
Hickman’s dedication to music, both on and off the stage, has made him a key figure in nurturing talent and keeping the Milton Keynes music scene vibrant.
