The official release of the Jump-up Folk platter-splatter courtesy of MK's eclectic exciting muso-mashers, forest of fools, is set for Friday (Feb 26).
The ultimate party players promised an 'eclectic mix of drum and bass-funk-folk-punk mash-up' which is a bit ambitious, to put it mildly.
But then, if you heard their debut All Good in the Wood you'll know that fof deliver on their promise.
Since issuing that debut, the band has spent its time honing the live sound, increasing its fan base and letting the good sounds flow.
Armed with this new opus, not to mention some frankly bonkers instrumentation, the boys will be leaving the forest behind and heading out on the open road this summer, with the aim to play on as many stages as will have them.
Based on this newbie, they'll be using their digeridoo (yep, they have one of those too) to keep keen promoters at bay.
It's really refreshing to write about a troupe of players who really do operate outside of the trends.
Heck, theirs is a sound that encompasses every other trend, but fof dress it up, and make it their very own.
From the truly funky to the sousaphone sexiness and with a maelstrom of instrumentation in between, forest of fools are folkin' awesome.
The tracklisting is a peach too; The Tale of the Pig-Horse Marital Affair and Menage a Cat are our top rankers.
'Indulge yourself in one of life’s great little pleasures and witness something truly pioneering and fresh that’s guaranteed to keep you dancing until dawn and wearing a smile all night,' invites the press release, and if your interest has been piqued, you can go get you fof fill Friday night when the band plays at MK11 in Kiln Farm.
Jump-up, folks, go catch the music stream that is Jump-up Folk delivered in the live.
