Eve answered our On Track questions...
The song that first awakened your musical senses
You're So Vain by Carly Simon. She is the reason I wanted to become a singer. I remember singing along to that song and pointing my finger at the sliding glass door thinking this is fun - I want to do this when I grow up!
Physical or digital - how do you take your music?
Both! Digital is a quicker fix but I still want to hold a CD in my hands and look at the artwork and lyrics, and read who played on it and who wrote the songs
Your best on stage memory
There is an outdoor stage in San Diego called Powerhouse Park that sits above a grassy knoll overlooking the ocean.
The grassy area can hold about 2000 people on blankets and beach chairs. Singing on that stage with the waves crashing onto the beach and the sun setting is a magical experience!
And the worst gig you've ever done
Singing in Arizona inside a camouflage tent at a military base in August in 115 degree heat! I almost passed out it was so hot
Which one song by another artist do you wish you'd written?
Broken Things by Julie Miller
And one - by yourself - which holds special significance
Bump in the Road is one of my most favourite songs to sing. It always makes me feel happy. It was inspired by a friend whose attitude about life and persevering through hard times makes the world a better place.
She was born with Cerebral Palsy and at age 24 diagnosed with leukaemia. Her response to the diagnosis was 'It's just another bump in the road,' so we wrote the song about her and how she chooses to show up in life!
If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do?
Sonny Boy Williamson and sing Bye Bye Bird and play that harmonica with no hands like he does...
Are there any current musical influences you might look to
I recorded an acoustic side project with my friend Kim McLean in Nashville called Cactus Honey where we used drum loops. Some of those tracks were re-recorded with live percussion.
I had never recorded music in the studio that way before and it was a really fun and different experience
And any genre of music that you simply can't stand?
I'm not a huge fan of hip hop. However, the beauty of music is that there is something for everybody
Finally, plug your tour and CD
We will be touring in the UK between 11 and 25 July. Marc Twang and I will be performing songs from our past CDs and we've brought our friends Berkeley Hart (who joined us in 2012 as well) to open every show!
Our second set will be all four of us onstage as the Super Group...wait for it...Berkeley Hart Selis Twang!
We have a self-titled new CD with great songs and beautiful four part harmonies all over the place
If you love CSNY, The eagles and Linda Ronstadt, you will love BHST!
