Now that the world has been circumnavigated, and quite a few times at that, the cast of The Stables' Crimbo show Around the World in 80 Days has been shipped out of the venue.
On Saturday (Jan 9) things get back to normality for the Wavendon haunt, with one of the best soul revues around.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered will bring out the big tunes, belting out soul-sational smashes like Reach Out I'll Be There, Papa Was a Rollin' Stone, and the show title, naturally.
Fans of hit bringers like Stevie Wonder and The Temptations will be in seventh heaven.
Buy in advance or risk the event being a total soul-out!
Tickets to see Adam Wakeman & Damian Wilson at play over on Stage 2 are already a long time sold-out, which is hardly surprising when you look at the combined pedigree of this duo.
Adam is keyboard player with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, which is perfect enough, but the son of prog-rock acer Rick cuts the good stuff solo too, and has four albums under his belt.
When not banging heads, in a professional capacity, with Ozzy, Geezer and Tony, he has been found colouring up the live sounds of everyone from Travis and Annie Lennox to Slash and Will Young.
Damian has worked as frontman with groups including Headspace and Threshold, and also has four long-players in racks.
Proof that he can turn plenty of musical tricks himself, the man who has also worked with Stables favourites Mostly Autumn (to name one of many), also played in the lead role of Jean Valjean when Les Miserables enjoyed a UK tour. The much missed Ronnie James Dio once said of Wilson, 'Damian has one of the most versatile voices in rock with an incredible range.'
As we've said, all tickets for this date were snapped up ages ago, which is a shame for those of you who have missed out on the acoustic event, but there is still a point to this plug – they've got a new album for you.
Weir Keeper's Tale is an acoustic collection of newly penned tracks by the two artists.
The duo will also play Trading Boundaries in Sussex a day before the Stables bash. And that's it. Just two dates.
“The reason is because Damian is out touring a lot and I start The End, the Black Sabbath world tour in January. We thought we'd squeeze in a couple of shows before we head off on our separate journeys...”
Brubecks play Brubeck hits the venue on Tuesday (Jan 12), when Dave Brubeck's children - pianist Darius, bassists/trombonist Chris and drummer Dan, deliver their father's famous hits, assisted by UK saxophonist Dave O'Higgins.
Expect plenty of musical interplay when they go live with the music from one of America's all-time greats.
This Stables date will be particularly special, as Wavendon founders John Dankworth and Cleo Laine both enjoyed a long-time friendship and musical working relationship with Dave Brubeck, and their son, virtuosic bassist Alec spend a significant period of time working as his regular bassist.
With the exception of that Wakeman/Wilson date, direct your booking requirements to www.stables.org or call 01908 280800.
