THIS WEEK AT THE STABLES: WITH DAVE KOZ, THE ENID, ALBANY DOWN, FOSTER & ALLEN & NICOLAS MEIER AND PETER OXLEY

Superstar sax player and nine-times Grammy nominee Dave Koz is first up on The Stables front this week.

When we say that Koz is a star, we really mean it – he has his very own on the famous Hollywood Boulevard. That's cool, and so too is his music making.

Join him when he stage steps at the Wavendon venue for the fifth time, this Thursday evening (Oct 29).

On Stage 2, The Dreaming Spires will hold attention with their British-tinged brand of Americana.

The Enid (above and below) support the release of their new album Dust, with the tour by the same name. They play on Friday night (Oct 30).

For 40 years, The Enid have been plying their musical wares, and frontman Robert John Godfrey has been a constant throughout.

His talent and skill has been recognised in recent times – in 2014 he was crowned Visionary at the Prog Music Awards, and Godfrey was also listed among the Top 100 Composers 2012-2014 by Classic FM.

Over on Stage 2, Albany Down will be in charge.

The London-based rockers claim influences classic (Led Zeppelin and Thunder) to contemporary – and they come none finer than Maryland bruisers Clutch.

Based on those, you can expect something exciting to ooze from the snug stage.

Tickets to see The Unthanks on Saturday (Oct 31) night are all sold-out, but you can still check in with Black Martis (below) playing on local soil.

The instrumental piano three-piece are probably not what you are expecting.

They might look like a standard jazz trio, but they mix pounding rock and samba-fuelled rhythms, aggressive bass lines and flowing piano riffs to create something quite unexpected.

Tickets to see Eddi Reader (below) on Sunday night (Nov 1) are all gone, and there's standing availability only for Elio Pace when he presents The Billy Joel Songbook on Monday night (Nov 2).

Another group celebrating 40 years in the business are Foster and Allen, and how better to celebrate than to hit the road and play live, right?

Tuesday's show (Nov 3) won't only be a night of nostalgia, though – they have a new CD in the racks too; Celebration was released last month.

Over on Stage 2, Nicolas Meier and Peter Oxley will show their ability at the fret, and this duo are a masterly pair – you can hear that much on their recent release, Chasing Tales, which is awash with changing sounds, moods and textures.

They go live from 8.45pm.

Last up this week, is a Wednesday night session with James Rhodes.

The maverick concert pianist will be discussing his controversial memoir Instrumental, live on stage.

His is a brutally honest, moving and compelling story that was almost banned.

Music has been the continuous thread that has held him together through the ups and downs of an extraordinary life.
